Litter-Robot III Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box Review

My review on the Litter-Robot III Open Air Self Cleaning Litter Box, from a very caring, mother of 4 cats “cat lady!” 🙂

I am an amazon affiliate and am reviewing my purchase of the Self Cleaning Litter Box. Please see my disclosure. I only suggest the best, and in return for my reviews I receive commission, if you purchase from link below. 🙂

Oh, I love walking into a house that smells of lilacs, roses, and fresh clean laundry, don’t you? Something about the smell of a “clean” house makes me happy. The character of Olaf from “Frozen” comes into mind when I think of my house being clean.

“Oh, I don’t know why, but I’ve always loved the idea of summer, and sun, and all things hot..” Olaf from Frozen. Haha, love that movie! But, I am picturing him right now thinking about my clean house that does not smell of cat litter!

Let’s get on with the review shall we? I have had cats all of my life, and dogs, and you know the occasional rabbit and birds here or there. 😉 Kept mom busy!

So, it is fair to say I have changed a litter box, or a few thousand. And, let me tell you, I got tired of it!!

The constant smell, having to scoop it twice a day (YEAH RIGHT…don’t tell the bf that), and the money spent on cat litter, and the time spent on having to scrub it every few days. Oy vey!! Enough was enough.

Over the years, I have purchased similar items to the Litter-Robot, but they were all cheaper versions, and in the end the poop would get stuck in the cleaner and I would end up spending even more time on cleaning the cleaner itself.

I finally came across this marvelous litter box!!! And, to be honest, the price made me jump out of my chair. We had to think on it for awhile! I could not stomach the price, but now that we have had it for 6 months, every penny of this purchase has been worth it!

Pros:
Clean
Cleans itself
Less money spent on litter
Quiet
Self Sufficient
Easy to dump
Easy to clean
Not spending time on my hands and knees scooping all the time

Cons:
Price
Big
Smell- it does smell a bit when the “poop” drawer becomes full, even though it has a filter
Poop drawer could be bigger

Overall, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase! Even the ole mother agrees, can’t argue with her. 🙂

I have saved so much time on cleaning (scrubbing). Having 4 cats means I am constantly buying food and cat litter, and with the Litter-Robot I am saving money each month on purchasing litter. It cleans after each use, allowing the litter to clump like it’s supposed to do, and it simply removes the clump, cycles, and the cats have a fresh trey.

Cats Review:
Finally, what do they think of it? They love it as well! As soon as we put it in the room, they went right into it. They knew what to do. They were nervous when it started cleaning, but their curiosity took over, and they hopped right back in. Sometimes, it’s a game to them when it starts cleaning, I have to remind them not to get into the box when it’s moving!

Hope this review helps! It is so worth it! If you would like to check out other fun toys I have purchase for them check out below!

Extra Goodies-

1.Cat Flower Fountain- by far one of the best fountains I have purchased! And, not to mention it’s cute! Easy to clean. Has a great hair catcher so their hair doesn’t clog the pump!

2. Cat toy springs– they run around with these all the time

3. Cat Tunnel they are always chasing each other through this tunnel. Taking their toy with them

  1. Cute cats! That thing looks like a spaceship! I’m pretty sure I’d have a hard time keeping my one and three year olds out of it, lol. We only have barn cats at the time, but your review was very thorough, and I enjoyed reading it.

  2. I have an older model automatic litter cleaner and don’t know how I survived without it! Going to look into this newer model.

  3. I’ve looked at these before (we have two housecats) but the price has kept me from taking the plunge! Thanks for the review. It’s good info for future reference when I inevitably purchase one!

  4. If I had 4 cats, I’d definitely consider that litter box a worthwhile investment. In the meantime, I am so happy to have my resident pooper scoopers, ie, children, to do the job! 😻
